What exactly is a vape mod?
Let's start with the basics. What is this term 'mod' people keep on talking about? A 'mod' is effectively a modified vaping device. The term stems from the days when vaping devices first started moving away from simple pens and e-cigs, and people would 'modify' their devices to alter its effects. Modding has since become commonplace, breeding an entirely new generation of vapers who know how to make the most of the technology available to them. So when you see a 'vape mod', you're essentially looking at a modified vaping device.
So what makes a vape mod?
Of course, there are many core components that are needed to make proper use of a vape mod. Perhaps one of their most impressive features is that they don't really require any battery power perform vaporisation. That means that the battery can regulate the temperature of the coil consitently, regardless of resitance, giving you a much better vape. But what are the things you need to consider?
The vape battery
This is easily the most important part of any vape mod device. The battery has a direct connection to how the atomiser performs, which will directly impact your vaping experience for better or worse. Most mods use Litium ion 18650 rechargeable batteries which are great, but they don't come as standard. You'll have to seek these out and buy them on your own, but it'll be worth it. Remember to always shop with well known brands who have good reviews when looking for any kind of battery. Smaller mods, like our very own Target Mini, have smaller batteries built in which can be charged via USB. This is great for most requirements and very convenient for all vapers.
The vape tank
Not to be underestimated, the tank is one of the most important parts of your mod kit. It's your reservoir, and should be carefully looked after and cleaned regularly to not taint the experience. An RTA (rebuildable tank atomiser) is common among modders and will allow you to switch flavours seamlessly. However, perhaps more popular is an RDA (rebuildable dripping atomiser) which allows you to drip e-liquid directly onto the coils for maximum flavour, giving you full control over each vape.
Last but not least, the coil
No mod kit is complete without a good coil. It does the important work of vaporising your e-liquid and it can take some experimenting to get right. Some modders will opt for their own rebuildable coils to really tailor the experience, but most prefer a reliable, long-lasting coil for a consistent and reliable vape.
