Beginners guide to producing big vape clouds

Vaping has taken off in a big way, and more and more people are joining in as we approach 2018. Whether you're new to vaping and enjoying your first vape kit or you're a seasoned vaper looking for something a little different, you've probably thought about vape clouds. Vaping is relaxing. That's why we do it. Sometimes, whether at home or out in public, it feels good to produce a nice, thick vape cloud that's full of flavour. You've probably seen other vapers do it and wondered how it's done. Really, it boils down to two things - technique and vapor production.

Here are just a few ways you can start chasing those vape clouds...

Up your vapor production

It's a simple formula. More vapor production means bigger vape clouds, but how can you make that happen? For starters, you could increase your power. The more power you use in your vape device, the quicker it can consume e-juice. One of the best ways to do this is to get a powerful battery and a low resistance coil, which is also the first step to Sub Ohm Vaping. What you're doing here isn't creating more vapor out of thin air, you're just speeding up the rate at which the liquid is vaporised, giving you more vapor in a single inhale (thus producing enormous clouds).

Check out our guide on sub ohm vaping for more info on upping power and lowering resistance.

Another way of increasing vapor production is by increasing your airflow. This is actually necessary if you want to take the added power route as mentioned above, because you'll need to keep your vapor cool so you don't get burned. However, this also has the added benefit of increase the size of your vape cloud quite naturally.

Finally, choosing the right e-liquid can have a massive impact on the kinds of clouds you can produce. Most e-juices are a blend of VG and PG (which you can learn more about here). In a nutshell, PG brings the flavour and VG brings the cloud. It therefore follows that if you want to produce bigger clouds you choose an e-liquid that has a higher VG balance, but bear in mind you're likely taste slightly less flavour and it may reduce your throat hit as a result.

Good vape clouds are all down to technique

If you've made the above changes you're half way there. Next, you need to address your routine so that it's geared more toward creating huge vape clouds. You'll need to find the perfect balance between inhaling, exhaling and body posture. You'll need to get into the habit of emptying your lungs, then when you inhale vapor do it long and deep, pushing your shoulders back and filling your lungs. Hold it there before you release, but do so slowly and push your jaw forward to control how far your throat opens. The key to a big cloud is a long, slow release.
